It`s the Mean Girls Musical

 It`s the Mean Girls Musical
The musical version of Mean Girls, based on Tina Fey's 2004 movie with the same title, was met with much acclaim. It was nominated for 12 awards at the 72nd Annual Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The show is packed with pop culture references, vibrant songs and lively scenes. After opening its doors at the National Theatre in Washington D.C., it officially launched in April 2018 at the August Wilson Theatre on 52nd Street in New York City.

Brian Ronan, the Sound Designer, described the August Wilson Theatre as a "beautiful but difficult space" to work in. When the show was relocated from D.C. to Broadway, the most of the proscenium was taken up with the set. With the low ceiling, Ronan and his associate Cody Spencer had to get creative with the array set up. As to not interfere with the audience's view and provide the lighting designer with the correct angles, the arrays had to stay out of sight.

Ronan and Spencer chose to remain with the L-Acoustics family and went with Kiva II due to its size, weight, and rigging capabilities. With its help, they could still take advantage of array shaping and the results were accurately predicted in Soundvision. Masque Sound provided all the audio gear and Ronan and his team setup multiple LA8-powered distributed arrays across the proscenium arch. Additionally, they supplemented these twin arrays of 12 Kara each with three extra hangs of V-DOSC to reinforce the sound designer's exclusive mix of vocals, band, and other sonic components.

The project was a great success; Brian Ronan commented that he had received positive reviews from the show's writer, orchestrator, and director. All three were quite vocal in their praise.
